Wesley Nursery School
Operated as a community service by the Community United Methodist Church since 1977, Wesley takes a personalized approach to learning and tries to fit the curriculum to the child, rather than the child to the curriculum. Wesley provides a safe and welcoming environment where children are nurtured according to their level of development. The classroom settings invite exploration, questioning, and interaction with peers and teachers. Children are encouraged to make choices and solve problems in a safe, thoughtful environment. Children at Wesley Nursery School are prepared for life, learning how to express their feelings, develop self-control and have positive attitudes toward people of different ethnic groups, cultures, beliefs, gender, and abilities. The children and teachers pursue their areas of interest through concrete arts and creative arts. They include arts and crafts, dramatic play, and creative dramatics such as finger-plays and puppets, music, cooking, early science, social studies, mathematical concepts, colors, shapes, and large and small muscle coordination. Programs are offered for 2-, 3-, and 4- year olds, as well as enrichment classes for 3- and 4- year olds. Wesley Nursery School is a member of the NAEYC. All staff are CPR/First Aid certified.
